Territorial organization

The Department for Mine Safety and Risk Prevention (DPSM) is comprised of a national central technical management and four territorial post-mine units:

  • UTAM North region situated in Billy-Montigny (Pas-de-Calais Department) for the Champagne-Ardenne, North–Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions;
  • UTAM East region situated in Freyming-Merlebach (Moselle Department) for the Alsace, Franche-Comté and Lorraine regions;
  • UTAM Centre-West region situated in Orléans (Loiret Department) serving the Auvergne, Burgundy, Brittany, Centre, Ile-de-France, Limousin, Lower Normandy, Upper Normandy, Loire Valley and Poitou-Charentes regions;
  • UTAM South region situated in Gardanne (Bouches-du-Rhône Department) for the Aquitaine, Corsica, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes regions.
